Hickory Barbeque Beefburger with Caramelised Red Onions
Serves
4
Ingredients
500gm x Minced beef
1 x Pureety Hickory Barbeque Sachet
1tbsp x Dijon mustard
1 x Egg yolk
2 x Red onions (Finely sliced)
4 x Burger Buns
10gm x Brown sugar
2 tbsp x Vegetable oil
Salt and pepper (To taste)
Preparation
Pre-heat an oven to 180C
Begin by placing the minced beef, dijon mustard, egg yolk and salt and pepper (to taste) in a bowl and combining well.
Then roughly split the mixture into 4 equal portions and mould into round burger shapes with the hands.
Cooking Method
To cook, put 2 frying pans over a high heat and add 1tbsp of vegetable oil to each pan.
When the oil is smoking add the burgers to 1 pan and the red onions to another. (Do this very cautiously as the oil in both pans will be extremely hot and may cause burns!)
Stir-fry the red onions for 1-2 minutes and then add the brown sugar.
Next turn the burgers over using a spatula and place then in the hot oven.
Then add the Pureety Hickory Barbeque sachet to the red onions and lower the heat and simmer for a further 5 minutes and the remove from the heat and set aside.
When the burgers have been cooking for 10-50 monutes and are cooked through, remove from the oven.
Place a bun bottom on each plate and add a burger to each and then top with the red onion mixture and the remaining half of the bun.
Serve the burgers with french fries on the side.
